TIANMUN 2017 Deputy CHAIR APPLICATION

CLOSED

TIANMUN 2017, November 9th-11th. The 5th annual TIANMUN conference will begin Thursday afternoon, November 9th and will end Saturday afternoon, November 11th.  For schools traveling from outside Tianjin, TIANMUN offers a choice of two hotels with shuttles provided to and from the conference.

TIANMUN is a three-day United Nations simulation for grades 8-12.  Students from schools from all over China will work together to develop and debate innovative solutions to current world issues.  The goal of TIANMUN is to increase students’ knowledge regarding international issues, policy making and the activities of the United Nations.  Valuable skills in public speaking, research and writing, negotiation and powers of persuasion, leadership, organization, and interpersonal communication will also be acquired.  TIANMUN 2017 will offer nine different committees including the Security Council, Human Rights Council, Disarmament Committee, Economic and Social Council, Advisory Panel, Special Council, and General Assembly.

Regarding Mandarin Conference: TIANMUN 2017 will not be offering the Mandarin Conference due to a lack of resources. Because debate in the Mandarin Conference is held according to unfamiliar procedures, we encountered many difficulties concerning the administration of the committee and preparation of delegates during TIANMUN 2016. As a result, all committees this year will be held in English. We intend to reinstall the Mandarin Conference after TIANMUN 2017.

TIANMUN is located on the campus of Tianjin International School in Tianjin, China. We welcome your interest in TIANMUN. Please contact us with any questions at enquiry@tianmun.org.

While visiting Tianjin, schools may want to spend time learning more about the history of the city and touring interesting sites.  Tianjin is just 30 minutes’ travel by bullet train from Beijing.  Visit TripAdvisor or World Guides for more information on attractions and sights in Tianjin.
